COMMONLY ASKED QUESTIONS

How often do I need to empty my fly trap?
As a general rule, so lont as you've maintained your water level you should not need to empty your trap until it is full. You can also add extra bait to your working trap if it seems to slow down.

Does the fly trap smell?
There is an odour attached, however this is necessary to attract the fly and is only usually noticeable when within a few feet of it.

Do I need fly traps in every paddock?
No. The fly traps were designed to be mobile and can safely be moved around WITH your stock.

Can I put my fly trap inside?
No! These fly traps are definately for outside use. The idea being to lure flies away from the house and/or stock.

Do I put my fly trap in the sun or shade?
Definately in an area where it gets all day sun, as it needs to maintain a temperature of around 28 degrees celsius to work effectively.

Is my fly trap UV protected?
There is UV protection in the plastics used to make our fly traps, however, no plastic will last forever outside. You should get an average of 3 years before the plastics start to break down. However, you can lengthen the life of your fly traps by cleaning them out and storing them inside over the winter period.

What do I use for bait?
Well that depends on what type of fly you are after. We have personally found that the Brown blowfly prefers liver whereas the Aussie Green blowfly prefers most fish, except Sand Shark. For the Bitey fly, we recommend pigs liver, and for the House fly, liver and cabbage works well.
